Our newest collaboration with Irish illustrator Vincent Lam revolves around a limited edition collection of exclusive art prints which focus on nature and the temporary essence of life, its eventual demise and the macabre beauty that is left in its wake.

We chat to Vincent ...

Q: Do you consider yourself an artist or a model maker?

A bit of both - I've always considered myself an artist but at the same time I've been making things from a very early age like functioning cross-bows and figurines. I'm fascinating by how things work and love figuring that element out as I work. It was these interests that drew me to pursue Model Making at IADT, where I found a course that suited me so well that it was hard to believe. When your passion becomes your work, there are no limits to what you can create.

Q: What are you inspired by?

I’m constantly inspired by my surroundings, nature and sci-fi movies!

Q: How did the collaboration at April and the Bear come about?

Siobhan and I have a very similar aesthetic as well as personality – so when April and the Bear came about it made sense that we explore a creative collaboration. We decided to focus on prints initially and the idea for the collection was quite an organic experience. Plans are in place for more collaborative collections next year but for now I’m excited to see how these prints are received.

Q: Where else might we see your work?

I currently have a piece in the ‘Emerging Artists Graduate Exhibition’ in the Courthouse Art Centre in Wicklow at the moment – it runs until the 4th of October. If large scale animatronic Aliens are your thing - pop by!

This limited edition art print collection is exclusively available at April and the Bear.

April and the Bear is an award-winning DIY/ lifestyle and interiors blog. Dublin-based interior enthusiast/ blogger and entrepreneur Siobhan Lam shares her own experiences of doing up her home in Portobello ... be warned it involves head wounds, bruised shins, fire engines and never-ending mountains of dust. Don’t let this deter you though – we want to encourage and help other not-so-handy individuals to throw caution to the wind and pick up that sledge hammer, but to do so with slightly bent knees and a hard hat firmly on your head.

April and the Bear blog attracts devoted readers from across the globe, we won 'Best Business Blog' at the Image.ie Blog Awards 2014 and were nominated for the 2014 The BOPS and The Blog Awards 2014 AND we were nominated for 'Best Online Shop' in the Irish Times Best Shops Competition 2015.
