Oh hi 2015!

Another year over. And here we all are in 2015 with only ourselves to blame.

January is a strange old time of year I think, it's cold and fairly miserable outside - though everyone is somewhat content with the quieter social situation but also nostalgic for the buzz and mayhem of Christmas. In retail, it's a BEYOND QUIET - like terrifyingly so. Like that scene in Aliens when Ripley is creeping between all those alien eggs - yeah like that. Having said that it's also the time of year where you plan your year and place your orders so you have to try and push the nauseating fear of 'BUT WHAT IF NO-ONE EVER BUYS ANYTHING EVER AGAIN' to the back of your mind as you decide with shade of magenta is THE shade of the season and then promptly buy every other shade too just in case.

But with personal promises of never eating another processed carb and becoming skinny & lithe ala Natalie Portman in Black Swan, international trade shows and hush hush meetings afoot its also an extremely exciting time.

In terms of A&TB, we're embracing smoky greys and muted pastels this Spring 2015. With emphasis on warm greens and subdued flamingo pinks, writer Christos Prevezanos describes it as 'Monet meets Molly Ringwald' which could very well be my favourite description of anything ever. This delicious palette will be topped up with highlights of copper and gold and lots of angular geometrical gorgeousness.

We'll also be chatting about crafty ways to update your home, I don't know about you but I'm so over EVERYTHING. It's the same every year. As soon as the tree is down I become instantly sick of every single thing in the house (bar Gizmo and the Bear). So we'll be blogging about easy and fun ways to update your interiors without breaking the bank.

So here's to a Happy Spring and an exciting 2015!

April and the Bear is an award-winning DIY/ lifestyle and interiors blog. Dublin-based interior enthusiast/ blogger and entrepreneur Siobhan Lam shares her own experiences of doing up her home in Portobello ... be warned it involves head wounds, bruised shins, fire engines and never-ending mountains of dust. Don’t let this deter you though – we want to encourage and help other not-so-handy individuals to throw caution to the wind and pick up that sledge hammer, but to do so with slightly bent knees and a hard hat firmly on your head.

April and the Bear blog attracts devoted readers from across the globe, we won 'Best Business Blog' at the Image.ie Blog Awards 2014 and were nominated for the 2014 The BOPS and The Blog Awards 2014 AND we were nominated for 'Best Online Shop' in the Irish Times Best Shops Competition 2015.
