Paris in Spring

One of the last trade shows of the season is also the most EPIC - both in size and in what it has to offer. Maison et Objet takes place in Paris and is widely spread over 8 enormous halls, and I really mean enormous - we're talking dozens of football pitches strung together big and that's a single hall (this may be slight exaggeration due to overwhelming tiredness from show though apparently the centre measures 246,000 m2). This year the show seemed changed, there was a strange fragility to the air which was unexplained until you spotted the much heightened security and the signs dotted around the hall which read 'Je suis Charlie'.
With different sections called things like 'Ethnic Chic' and 'New Generation' - you're being introduced to unique and beautiful things that no other trade show can offer from brands from all over the world. It's also not just confined to the 'big brands' you might expect, much smaller artistic brands can exhibit here too - for instance their 'craft' section is truly eye-opening.
I travelled to Maison with a great pal of mine that runs a beautiful gift store in Dundrum (Moss Cottage) and together we discovered so many new, brilliant and utterly gorgeous brands - I'm so excited to introduce them to you. Spring home trends that include gleaming copper, gold, intricate palm leave pattern, oodles of white beautiful marble, geometrics, paper in all sorts of guises, washi tape, neon pinks, oversized florals and so much more were evident throughout the show.
Here's a tastier of what we saw and what's to come for April and the Bear this year...
