Make a scene...a Seasonal Scene!

It is nice to make an extra effort at home sometimes, sure we all decorate at the end of the year when society demands it but why not embrace the darker, more seductive occasion of Halloween too?
And before you say it NO, All Hallow's Eve doesn't have to mean oodles of fake cobwebs and bat decorations. We're talking about creating a sophisticated seasonal display, one that's easy to create, to maintain and get rid of come November 1st.

So what look ARE we going for then? We are channelling one of those perfect Autumnal walks, where there's a definite nip in the air, the bright but cold sunshine is twinkling through the trees and the orange leaves are crisp underfoot. THAT'S what we want and yes, this is going to require some leaf collecting.
You'll Need:
Dry Leaves (the more colourful the better)
Dry Branches
Small Pumpkins
Vases and Candleholders and whatever other accessories you have
So once you'll collected natures glorious bounty and nipped to your local supermarket for pumpkins (we got ours from Fallon & Byrne) - start arranging. How you do this and where is completely dependent on your space. Perhaps you have a table in the hall that would be perfect for an auld Fall Display, or maybe you use the dining table so infrequently that you can essentially turn it into a forest floor?
Fill your vases with dry branches, pop your pumpkins under glass domes or simply place next to your favourite candleholder. Arrange your accessories as desired (varying heights and contrasting metals always works for me) and then simply hold your leaves above and drop. And boom, you've just created a simple but stunning Halloween Display.

If space is limited in your abode or the idea of leaves lying on random surfaces isn't really your thing - I would suggest re-creating the above on a small scale, like on a tray. That way everything is nicely contained AND you can move it around the house to create interest.
Happy Halloween Chums!
