To say that our weather has been somewhat cold and chaotic lately is an understatement, it’s been utterly miserable – enough to drive those with even the strongest will directly under the duvet.
So why fight it?
This weekend I’m planning on plonking myself directly under my favourite throw and GORGING on NetFlix and Propercorn. And yes, the newly released season of House of Cards will feature on the viewing schedule but it won’t be my only source of entertainment. Oh no! I’ll be watching with intent. Only shows with utterly exquisite interiors will be entertained, of which there are hundreds so I decided that this weekend will be dedicated solely to epic political dramas that happen to have TO–DIE-FOR interiors.

Top 5 Best Political Shows on Netflix (with lust-inducing interiors).
1. House of Cards
Okay, number one was ALWAYS going to be House of Cards. The tale of power-hungry politician Frank and Claire is as engaging as it is indecent with plot twists that will leave you utterly bewildered but always wanting more.
Interior Lust: Frank and Claire's exquisitely put together brownstone is the epitome of muted traditional elegance. A gaff for grown ups.

2. The Good Wife
Oh how I adore Alicia Florrick. I resisted this show for many years due to my inability to envisage Chris Noth as anyone but Big AND the title. The Good Wife? I mean come on, my internal feminist screamed. Surely she's more than JUST a wife?! And of course she is, she's a powerhouse - she's complicated, a wildly talented lawyer, a mother and one of my favourite TV constructs of all time. If you like strong powerful female leads (Kalinda I'm looking at you), tear-inducing plot-lines and romantic intrigue set in a political world VERY similar to ours - you need to watch this Ridley Scott produced show. Also it stars Logan Huntzberger.
Interior Lust: We adore Diane's office - it's classic and luxe just like her. Also adored the short-lived Florrick/Agos offices in the 'bad' part of town - industrial, chic to boot!

3. Scandal
Yup — Olivia Pope made the list! And yes, I know, is it really political? Political - ish? Well it does star the president of the United States. Anyway this show revolves around the gorgeous Olivia and her crisis management firm, a firm which seems to solely deal with sex-crazed politicians — one of whom is the married president who happens to be madly in love with Ms Pope herself. All in all it's a trashy, fun show that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Interiors Lust: Olivia Pope's office is stunning - it's enormous, with floor to ceiling windows and a definitive dark, masculine vibe. Industrial and stylish.

4. Parks and Recreation
Where to start? This comedic gem of a TV show follows the political career of enthusiastic idealist Leslie Knope and her rag-tag gang of governmental co-workers and pals in her beloved Pawnee, Indiana. It's a show that is LOVED by many with good reason and has introduced many hilarious and unforgettable characters to the world like Ron Swanson, Tom Haverford and the incomparable Jean-Ralphio. It should be higher on the list but the interiors aren't too great — luckily EVERYTHING else is.
Interiors Lust: Like I said the interiors AREN'T great but hey look how pretty Leslie is! And too be honest this is realistically what a working mothers abode looks like!

And then we come to number 5 — now this was going to either be The West Wing or Veep — neither of which I've personally watched YET but neither seem to be on Netflix. Oh well — I think we've covered enough here to last until early Monday morn. So snuggle up peeps and get your TV fest on!
Did we miss a trick here? What's your fave political TV show and does it have even dreamier interiors than this lot? Comment below!
