Festive Foraging

Foraging is usually associated with food and those ‘wholesome’ types that couldn’t possibly pop anything artificial into their gobs, so instead they fanny about roadsides and ditches looking for that perfect mushroom to settle down into front of the fire with.

But that’s not what this is about – OH NO!

This is about foraging for a far more important reason – for decorating your home with! YAY!

Lately I’ve become fairly obsessed with Scandinavian décor and after much internet study have come to the conclusion that those guys love to put a focus on natural textures and neutral, white-wash hues. Even at this time of year, when everyone else has lost the run of themselves and has covered their apartments/houses in oodles of red gingham and purple tinsel – the Scandinavians keep to their calm palette and focus on bringing nature inside in a rustic but chic manner.

So get foraging! Go to your local park and look out for fallen tree branches, big and small. Grab fern cones and any other interesting looking bits you can find – bring them home to dry and on the next blog post we’ll talk about how to integrate them for a stylish Scandi-inspired festive home.

April and the Bear is an award-winning DIY/ lifestyle and interiors blog. Dublin-based interior enthusiast/ blogger and entrepreneur Siobhan Lam shares her own experiences of doing up her home in Portobello ... be warned it involves head wounds, bruised shins, fire engines and never-ending mountains of dust. Don’t let this deter you though – we want to encourage and help other not-so-handy individuals to throw caution to the wind and pick up that sledge hammer, but to do so with slightly bent knees and a hard hat firmly on your head.

April and the Bear blog attracts devoted readers from across the globe, we won 'Best Business Blog' at the Image.ie Blog Awards 2014 and were nominated for the 2014 The BOPS and The Blog Awards 2014 AND we were nominated for 'Best Online Shop' in the Irish Times Best Shops Competition 2015.
